Vera owns and manages Esprit de Core Pilates Studio. She found Pilates during her time practicing law. Vera was
initially drawn to Pilates as a way to build tone and flexibility in her body after long days of sitting at a desk. After a
foot injury that turned into chronic foot pain, she realized that Pilates is also a powerful and gentle healing and
rehabilitation tool. Vera made the decision to leave the legal world because she wanted to find meaningful work in
which she could help people to feel healthy and comfortable in their bodies. She decided to pursue Pilates as a career,
and has never looked back.
Vera completed the PhysicalMind Institute's Pilates training program, and is a certified Pilates instructor. Her passion
is to help clients improve postural and body awareness, and develop efficient, healthy movement patterns for everyday
living.
Since completing her certification, Vera has continued to study with Lizz Roman, Sherri Betz, Elizabeth Larkam,
Yamuna Zeke and others, to keep learning new skills and to continue to learn to use the Pilates Method to help clients
with rehabilitation after injuries and related to aging, as well as osteoporosis and osteopenia.
Karen Gottlieb
Karen is a certified STOTT Pilates trainer with her complete certification including mat, reformer, chair,
cadillac and barrels. Karen also has training and practical experience in injury and pre- and post natal exercise.

from UC Santa Barbara. She has been teaching Pilates since 2000.
Dana DeVerde
Dance, fitness and balanced good health have always been Dana’s passions, and in 2004 she realized the
culmination of these things in Pilates. Dana believes Pilates meets today’s clients’ desire for a more thoughtful
approach to exercise, fulfilling the client both mentally and physically. She appreciates the accessibility of this
fluid form of training for all ages and fitness levels, and enjoys adapting the workout toward her clients’
specific needs.
Dana's philosophy is "Nurture yourself by achieving 'inside-out' good health, so that you may
have unlimited energy for your passions." She believes that Pilates is both a proactive and reactive tool for
doing this.
Aure DeMare
Aura has been practicing Pilates since 2002 and became certified in 2006 through Integrated Teacher
Training (with Madeline Black, Jean Sullivan, Debra Schubert, and Joerg Chabowski).
Aura has an MS in Biology from San Francisco State University, which is where her love for inquiry-based
science began. She has since taken those same investigative principles to her Pilates training and understanding
how the body works. As a competitive swimmer, she appreciates how Pilates complements and enhances other
physical activities and is dedicated to helping her clients enjoy the many benefits of Pilates in their everyday
lives.
Allyson Atwell
Allyson became interested in Pilates ten years ago after years of training in yoga. She discovered that the Pilates
Method offers many of yoga's lengthening, strengthening, and calming benefits while providing a structured, safe, and
outcome-based curriculum.
Allyson believes that the key to better overall health is correct breathing, and she enjoys teaching her students how to
become better breathers. She is energetic, enjoys her students, and loves to laugh.
Allyson obtained her Pilates certifications through Balanced Body University. She earned her B.A. from SJSU.
Cara Grinels
Cara realized her passion for the human body when she was in dance class as a little girl. She continued her
dance studies at California State University Long Beach where she achieved a double BA in Dance and Fine Arts;
she is currently certified in Pilates Reformer, Mat, and AFFA personal training as well as CPR, AED, and First
Aid certified.
Cara is an experienced Pilates instructor and is comfortable working with a range of clients, from the most fit
athlete to an injured senior. She’s been dancing her whole life and loves sharing what she’s learned with her
clients and making them more aware of what is going on in their bodies.
She has seen so many amazing changes in her clients from better posture, to no more back pain, and welcomes
the opportunity to help her Esprit de Core clients do the same.
Dana is fully certified by STOTT Pilates on all equipment, for all levels of conditioning. She has a B.A. from UCLA.
Vera Szepesi
Vera has also studied yoga, meditation, reiki and hypnotherapy.
Lori Parton
Lori believes that Pilates provides the tools for mapping out the inherent intelligence of the body and that,
combined with a sense of mindfulness, can help to restore integrity of movement. She feels that this
intelligence is our birthright.
Lori discovered Pilates in 2001 while surfing and performing West African dance on the Island of Kauai. Pilates
allowed her to play harder, stay centered, breathe more deeply and avoid injury.
She felt compelled to share this discovery with others and became a Stott Pilates Certified Mat Instructor.
She went on to become a Pilates Academy International Certified Reformer Instructor and rounded her training
off with Balanced Body University Cadillac, Chair & Barrels.

Amy’s passion for movement developed at a young age though dance. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in
dance from UC Irvine and studied Pilates while training. She continued her Pilates education though Body Arts
and Science International (BASI) and received her teaching certification along with pre and postnatal Pilates
certification.
Amy has experience in working with wide range of rehab clients from low back injury to post hip replacement
surgery. She is currently attending school to pursue a career in physical therapy.
